Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is an aging disease of the central retina, one of the most common causes of vision loss in the Western world. As patients with AMD gradually lose their central vision, they are unable to read, cannot drive a car, and cannot recognize faces. I will use the newest genetic techniques to identify the causes of AMD and aim to develop new therapies tailored to the individual patient.
The Text Consultant helped me to frame a core message that would stick in the ERC Panel’s minds in a professional presentation that was scrupulously organized. In putting together my visuals, we went beyond graphic unity and visual attractiveness to give them a WOW factor. In my personal performance, we made sure it would ooze self-confidence and enthusiasm. The whole thing came together and persuaded the ERC Panel to award me a 1.5 million euro Starting Grant.
